Experience & contributions

My experience, in practice.

From customer support to full-stack development, each step brought a new perspective on software. A space for the challenges, decisions, and work along the way.

Real experience and clearly labeled examples. The NetPOS stories describe real contributions from my career. The PagBank stories are still fictional examples, labeled on each contribution, while I prepare stories that can be shared.

Contribution / 01Fictional exampleAn integration that is easier to follow.View detailsCollapseA tracking flow with clear states, from the first request to confirmation.
The challenge
In this fictional scenario, information about a request was spread across services. Users had to switch screens to understand what had happened and what was still pending.
My contribution
My example role would cover the React interface and the Node.js integration layer, organizing flow states, response contracts, and error handling with the product team.
Illustrative outcome
A journey where every step can be understood on the same screen, with useful messages to resume the process when something goes wrong.

Contribution / 02Fictional exampleFrom a production issue to its root cause.View detailsCollapseObservability and context to investigate an intermittent issue.
The challenge
In this example, an operation failed intermittently and the logs did not connect the request steps, making the issue difficult to reproduce and investigate.
My contribution
The illustrative contribution involves correlating logs and traces, adding context to events, and writing a test for the identified scenario before adjusting the integration handling.
Illustrative outcome
A documented investigation path and clearer signals to recognize the same behavior in future incidents.

Contribution / 01New features and an evolving front-end.View detailsCollapseSmartPOS features and interface modernization with React and TypeScript.
The challenge
From October 2022 to October 2023, I worked as a front-end developer for SmartPOS while continuing my QA responsibilities on PagVendas. The product had JavaScript interfaces built with class components that needed to evolve alongside new requirements.
My contribution
I implemented user-facing features and refactored parts of the applications, migrating JavaScript class components to functional components with Hooks and TypeScript. I drew on collaboration with developers and the product knowledge I had gained in support and QA.
Outcome
Users gained new features, and parts of the front-end moved to a more up-to-date foundation, with types and organization to support interface maintenance and evolution.

Contribution / 02From support to QA, grounded in product knowledge.View detailsCollapseSmartPOS product knowledge, testing, and support investigations alongside developers.
The challenge
I started in customer support at NetPOS in January 2020 and was promoted to QA in March. Getting to know SmartPOS and talking with developers helped me understand the problems arriving through support tickets.
My contribution
I validated the creation of the PagVendas online store at the start of the pandemic, deepened my knowledge of BDD and automated testing, and investigated support tickets with SQL. I prepared queries and INSERT and UPDATE statements for the back-end team to run in production.
Outcome
The knowledge gained in customer support informed testing and investigations into real customer issues, connecting support, QA, and development and laying the groundwork for my move into front-end development.

Contribution / 03More efficient reports in the back-end.View detailsCollapseImprovements to PDF and Excel reports and database queries in Node.js applications.
The challenge
Beyond the SmartPOS interfaces, I worked on Node.js applications with Express that provided PDF and Excel reports and queried databases.
My contribution
I optimized report downloads, reduced the number of database queries, and adjusted existing queries to improve application performance.
Outcome
More efficient report downloads and leaner queries, with fewer database calls in the routines I improved.
